Obituary of James D. Tully

TULLY, James D., MD, 85, of Wyckoff died Tuesday, November 17, 2015 peacefully surrounded by family. Born at home in Brooklyn the 8th child of John and Mary (Hosty) Tully. He was a resident of Teaneck before moving to Wyckoff 41 years ago. After graduating from Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, MD in 1952 and New York Medical College in 1956, he served 2 years in the United States Navy as a Medical Officer in Hingham, MA. Following residency at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, he joined the staff at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck as an anesthesiologist in 1961, retiring in 1993. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth’s RC Church in Wyckoff, where he was a member of Cornerstone Men’s Group. Predeceased by his parents, 7 siblings, and 2 children, Elizabeth and Steven. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie (Baradel) Tully, children Paul and Donna Tully, Michael and Lorraine Tully, Mary and David Liss, Patricia Tully, and Karen and Jon Justin. Also survived by 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The Tully family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com) 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Funeral Mass Saturday 10:30 am at St. Elizabeth’s, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff. Followed by internment at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes.
